Assorted spicy fries with aromatic herbs and vegan sauces

Spicy fries!! Everybody loves chips and crisps, yes they are vegan but that doesn’t mean they are healthy. When the chips and crisps are fried they are rich in unhealthy fats  which can cause serious health problems, such as high cholesterol, heart disease and obesity. When we consume that type of food often especially chips and crisps from the shops, the company’s are using  the cheapest oils and fats (palm oil). These oils are high in saturated fats and trans-fats popular fats with (bad) cholesterol  know to cause heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. It can even lead to heart attack.

To enjoy these types of food there is a healthier option. We can prepare totally scrumptious chips if we bake instead of fry. I’m using avocado oil because the smoke point is very high 270°C its unrefined and one of the best oil choices for high thermal use.

You can choose between so many different kinds of veggies to bake like chips, so you can enjoy a larger variety of flavours. Assorted spicy fries with aromatic herbs and vegan sauces

Roasted, low in calories and oil delicious assorted chips

Ingredients

Normal potatoes

  • 3 large potatoes
  • 1 tsp of turmeric
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp of oregano
  • splash of oil
  • salt to taste

Carrots

  • 6 large carrots
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp parsley
  • splash of oil, salt to taste

Sweet potatoes

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • splash of oil, salt to taste

Directions

  1. Pre- heat the oven to 160°C
  2. Line 2 baking trays with parchment paper ( I used 2 and changed the baking paper twice)
  3. Wash the vegetables and chop them down into chip shapes
  4. In separate bowls mix each vegetable with the herbs and spices, add a splash of oil and salt to taste.
  5. Drizzle some oil on the baking paper and bake your  assorted chips for 35-40 minutes depending on the size of your chips, serve with this vegan mayo or this vegan pesto.
